The Love Day

This Valentines Day is making me feel nostalgic for some reason so I've been looking back to old pictures like the ones I've posted, remembering how God brought John and I together 18 years ago (How old are we? Yikes!), how He blessed us with our first born son, Mark, and then how He further blessed us with Luke and Nathan...lots of hard times (of course !), but today I'm remembering the joy and all the love.

I'm amazed how He took the two of us and grew such a deep, strong love between us, and then saw fit to trust us with these three precious little monkeys  children. It's not that every day is a "Wow" kind of a day (believe me!!!) but there is some kind of amazing miracle in the way He has blessed us right in the middle of our every day, not particularly amazing, pretty regular lives.

He is what makes it all amazing and beautiful and good, even in the midst of life, which is sometimes down-right rotten and painful. He just doesn't just love, He is love! What does that even mean? I don't have an answer really, but I can see evidence of Him and Who He is in our lives and I am deeply, deeply thankful. How 'bout you? His love doesn't have to look the same for everyone obviously...let's look for the beautiful evidence of it today, OK? And try to spead some more of it around too!!!

Finnegan

So, Finnegan just showed up in our yard nearly two weeks ago.

After extensive searching for his original family, we are making him ours. Everyone likes him and the timing seems right. He is calm, friendly, laid back, patient, fairly obedient and happily obsessed with our cats. He loves them and is scared of them all at the same time and spends hours watching them, checking to see where they are etc. The cats seem to be mostly amused and so they are all busy watching each other.

I took him out in public on Sat. to see what he could do and discovered that he is wonderfully and appropriately social and is NOT great on a leash. Oh my poor shoulders!

We must have looked pretty good though as someone mistook me for evaluating a dog for Guide Dogs For The Blind! Cool! Finnegan and I are proud of that one!

So, we'll continue to work with him and see if he can make it as a
Therapy Dog.

Doggie News...the Sad, Silly and Surprising

So....never a dull moment around here, it seems...

The sad news: We found out that the litter our puppy was in were all born dead a few days before their expected due date. So sad and disappointing! We were put back onto another waiting list but the pups are not due until mid to late Summer.

The silly: I have recently committed to taking care of two senior dogs for six months while their owner is working overseas. I am thankful to get the work...every little bit adds to our adoption fund. But the silly part is that Ellie Mae, the Black and Tan Coonhound like to watch TV with the boys and makes a point to bark at the bad guys! The boys think it's so funny!

The Surprising: A friendly Lab type dog showed up in our yard this week. We thought maybe he belonged to a neighbor, so put a leash on him and called around. When we came up empty we called our vet and animal control. No one was missing a Lab. I took him to the vet to see if he has a micro-chip. Nope. While we were there I also got his Rabies shot and meds for his severe worm infestation.
We rescue dogs. we re-home dogs and sometimes we even take them to the pound when we find them, (So sad!) but we are starting to hope that we might get to keep this one. He is a wonderful fellow so far and just might be a cantidate for therapy work (my love!). So, we 'll see....I am continuing to evaluate him and check on Craig's List Lost & Found listings.

Meet Finnegan!
