STRESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

OK, I'm trying to get myself & Mark to Ghana asap because I can hardly wait to finally snuggle my little sons up in my arms! But....we are having all kinds of paper work challenges. They probably wouldn't normally faze me much but at this emotional time...ugh! I can't sleep at night without meds.

We're looking at going over in the next 2-3 weeks...I hope!!!

GHANA OR BUST! :)

So excited you are going!!! Try to see all the paperwork stuff as "time passers". Praying for you and can't wait until you hug your little ones!!! :) Tami

Sorry about the paperwork frustrations!

I must tell you, though, that I am very concerned about you taking Mark with you. I don't know if you have traveled to 3rd world countries before, but it will be a HUGE adjustment for you to just BE in Ghana ... not to mention helping Mark to adjust ... and then trying to walk through the transition with your 2 new sons. Wow! It will take a LOT of work. You'll also want to give your 2 new boys ALL of your attention, which will then most likely cause Mark some questions about who will take care of his needs ... who will give him attention.

Sorry to be a bit negative ... just VERY concerned for you.

Patty--we are SO excited for you guys. Praying for safety as you and Mark travel. Also for SMOOTH transactions with all the paperwork and other legal things you'll be dealing with. Can't wait to meet the two newest Grotbergs!

Well...my midwife approved sleeping pills (Tylenol) at the end of my pregnancy....Girl I slept WELL!!!!! You're about at that stage....Sleep well.....!!!!!!!!

I think you and Mark will do great over there...Life is life wherever you go! Just get lots of sleep (hey they tell you that too just after you give birth, sleep whenever you can!!!!!) They say too to fast for 24 hours then start eating on the schedule of Ghana, like on the plane....then you overcome jet lag faster....You'll have to google that one but some people swear by it!

TAKE TONS OF PICTURES. I am dying, I tell ya, for the whole scoop!

You are blessed to have spent many months in Africa before so that helps you to know what you are getting into. Also having family that live very close to the Orphanage is a blessing. Will it be challenging? I am sure it will be. BUT. You will make it!! : )

Love your little sis

Obviously, I had no idea that you had ever been to Africa, nor that you had family living in Accra. I am just very aware of many adoptive parents that have seen their trip as a vacation ... and the reality of it all is much more difficult than they expected.

I thought Heather's comment was interesting, "Life is life wherever you go. Just get lots of sleep." It would appear that she may have never traveled to a 3rd world country. Sleep was actually one of the most difficult things to get, when my husband and I went a year ago. We were there during the hottest part of the year. We stayed at a Guest House without air conditioning. We would lay in bed dripping with sweat in the middle of the night. And, the neighborhood roosters would start crowing at 3:00 a.m. So, yes, sleep would have been helpful. But, it wasn't as simple as just going to bed and sleeping.

Glad you've been there before. Wishing you the very best on this upcoming trip, and looking forward to reading all about your time with your two new sons.

Actually Heather has traveled extensively around the world, including living for about a year in India (I think it was India?). She is just AMAZINGLY adaptive! I wish she was coming to Ghana with me! Want to Heather? :)

We can't wait to hear the story of meeting your precious boys for the first time. Do you have anyone that would be able to videotape that first moment? I think it would be a moment I would want to watch over and over again in the future. What an amazing day that will be for both you and Mark...and of course for John when your family is finally home together. We continue to pray for you! Lots of love!
